Plaster

Many of the buildings and homes that we work on contain plaster ceilings and walls.  Plaster repairs require a different approach and inherent expertise than other modern substrates.  We have developed and implemented a repair process in countless homes and buildings that we feel is a step above the rest.  If you have cracking plaster in your home but don’t want to lose the charm of plaster altogether, you don’t have to.  Call us today!

If we can’t pick up right away, we will call you back within 24 hours, guaranteed.

This ceiling contained a combination of loose cracked plaster and compromised calcimine ceiling paint.
Workers remove all peeling paint and loose plaster. Cracks are v-grooved to create a channel for new material. Tape is used to identify and mark all stains and loose plaster.
Next we work to ensure that all loose plaster is securely fastened to the lath above. Sometimes, based on the condition of the lath, that requires installing additional bracing in the attic above.
Once proper bracing has been installed above, we install these plaster washers through the plaster into the lath to tighten the connection between the two materials.
All cracks get sprayed with 2 coats of primer. This ensures that the old dry lath doesn't draw out too much moisture from the compound used to backfill the cracks.
Once primed, cracks are backfilled with an adhesive infused compound.
Workers then install a self-adhering mesh screen over the entire surface. This screen helps to lock in and prevent future superficial cracking.

The ceiling is then skimmed. This usually takes 3 coats to cover adequately.
Final coat drying and will be ready for sanding.
From there it's sanding....
